Cops on ATVs In Winnetka

The other day, I was driving to golf practice in Winnetka and I saw an ATV coming toward me on the other side of the road. As it got closer, I noticed that the front of it said Police. I was in the car with my brother and as the cop went by, we looked at each other and said, "Cops on ATVs in Winnetka? No way!" We could not believe what we just saw. Not only are there cops on ATVs in Winnetka, but there are also cops on motorcycles. You normally only see cops on motorcycles in warm climates in places like California or Florida. You would never expect them to be in Winnetka. But Police on ATVs, I have never ever seen that before anywhere. It is pretty cool to have cops on ATVs but it just seems a little bit crazy. What do you think about the idea of having cops on ATVs in Winnetka?

Claire, this is an interesting post. I think that the cops might be using ATVs to disguise themselves. How often do you see a cop on an ATV? Never. When I see a person riding an ATV I would not normally thing, “That must be a COP.”I think that the cops are attempting to find new vehicles to blend in more. I have noticed Cops hiding under trees in cars trying to catch “speeder.” An ATV is much smaller than a normal car and it will make them hiding less obvious. Motorcycles are small and will disguise them well also.

I definately see the cops on the ATV's all the time. It is crazy to see them on those things. I dont get why they are driving them around because the cop cars do a fine job. I think that they are just trying to upgrade their cars into cooler things like the ATV's. I think it is a little bit above and beyond for ATV's because cars are fine and i dont know how different an ATV is from a car other than being out in the open? Are they going to use these ATV's in winter? I guess looking at what kimber said, they are less obvious for seeing, but i think if someone does see them, they are more obvious becuause people are not used to seeing them drive around in them.
